Artist's Statement
I love painting with watercolor, and I'm happy to be a perpetual student of the endless ways water + pigment + gravity can surprise and delight. Watercolor is sometimes viewed as a "craft hobby" that's easy to pick up -- so it's especially rewarding to meet and be inspired by watercolor lovers and practitioners who know the effort that watercolor proficiency demands. When you can't (easily) paint over a mistake or add light highlights at the end of a painting, you learn that with watercolor, you need to plan your approach, make every brush stroke count, and be prepared to be patient. And if all else fails, flip the paper over and start again!
Artist's Bio
I'm a native Tarheel, and I've called Cary home since 1984. After I retired from a website editing career at IBM in 2018, I shaped my retirement around art: painting with friends, taking art classes, visiting museums and gallery exhibitions, and following amazing artists on social media. I love starting every day excited to make, share, and talk about art with such a talented community of artists.
